Dean and Ashley's Wedding Day

We arrived early to the Seattle Tennis Club on Saturday for the wedding of Dean and Ashley. So many prayers we spoken for just one more beautiful fall day - prayers answered with a spectacular day. Though a bit chilly at the start, the early morning fog made a wonderful backdrop with the rising sun breaking through on the clouds above a serene and moody Lake Washington.

Ashley's dress came from Paris - a handmade gown that fit her beautifully.
Alyssa took the following two pictures...she has such a wonderful eye for composition, and continues to inspire me with her creativity.
There was so much tender emotion expressed throughout Ashley and Dean's wedding day. Ashley had asked her dad to walk her to the dock where she was to meet Dean before the start of pictures. Here they embraced after seeing each other for the first time...
Every detail was carefully thought out - including the beautiful flowers which carried the fall theme.

While I was busy photographing Dean and his groomsmen outdoors, Gabriel and Alyssa had the fun of working with Ashley and her attendants inside on a stairwell. Hmmm...I think they had a lot more fun!
The morning fog lifted and the sun came out just prior to the start of the wedding ceremony. I am so glad that they were able to have their service outdoors, just as they had wanted.

Ashley and Dean, thank you for inviting us to participate in capturing your wedding day through images. We enjoyed getting to know you both and know that you have a wonderful future ahead of you. May your marriage have the blessing of your grandparents' longevity in love (65+ years, wow!), and may your lives be filled to overflowing with joy, laughter, kindness and love.

Lizzie at Pike's Place Market

It had been awhile since we had done a photo session at Pike's Place Market, so when Lizzie and her mom chose this location for her senior pictures, I was looking forward to getting back there and to find something new just for Lizzie.

We explored the other half of Pike's Place that usually goes unnoticed (by our family at least!), and found this really cool covered stairway that gave beautiful lighting. It almost felt like something I'd find as a studio backdrop.

I love alleys that bring in soft light and a soft breeze...it was perfect for Lizzie.

We ended our session on the Seattle Waterfront in front of Fisherman's Restaurant. I had with me a Greek Fisherman's cap, which was a fun prop to use and actually complemented Lizzie's blue eyes beautifully. Lizzie, thanks for bringing me back to a spot that I love and for going along with all my ideas - even the ones that didn't work out so great (and which you'll never see...)! I hope you have a fantastic senior year, and that these pictures will be a blessing to you and your family for years to come.

Kristin's Senior Pictures at Bothell Landing

Okay...so I've lived in the Seattle area for 21 years, and just today I was introduced to another local gem - a park called Bothell Landing. How is it possible that I missed this one? Kristin asked for her senior pictures to be taken here, and she did a great job in finding a perfect place! With a scenic bridge, a river front, covered porches, an outdoor ampitheater, one historic schoolhouse and quaint gazebo, there was no lack for cool spots to photograph. I'll be sure to keep this one in mind!

The covered porch...
The bridge...
The gazebo...
The schoolhouse...
The ampitheater...
Kristin, thanks for introducing me to a great new spot and for being a good sport during your photo shoot. I hope these images bring back fond memories for years to come...God bless you!

Ryan's Senior Session at Carillon Point

This afternoon was another beautiful fall day, and perfect for a senior session. Ryan proved that guys can have just as much fun as the girls when it comes to a photo shoot - he kept up with the best of them! This picture was taken indoors at the Woodmark Hotel. The staff was gracious to allow us the use of the hotel for a short period of time - just long enough to get this shot on the staircase as Ryan was facing the expansive picturesque window. I like the balance of natural light and shadow on his face.

Believe it or not, the water was really that blue - I didn't change anything in post-production to get the blues that hue. Nice!

Although I've taken other kids to Carillon Point for senior pictures, I'm always looking for a new angle or twist to make each session unique. I couldn't help but put Ryan with the granite statues for his take on the structures. I have to say, he did a great job!

Rayn, whether your steps are directed into working in the field of computer technology, politics, or running your own business, may you find joy in the journey and a life of peace as you use the gifts and talents God has given to enrich your life and the lives of others. Have a fantastic senior year!

Katie's Session at Seattle Center and Carillon Point

Katie and I met at the Seattle Center to begin her photo shoot on one of the most beautiful days of the year. Katie told me that she has an interest in fashion photography, so we had a lot of fun experimenting with various poses and looks. I was struck by how much she resembled a young Jane Seymour in certain expressions she had - especially this one here.

As we walked through Seattle Center, I spotted an artist who had set up to draw caricatures, and couldn't resist taking a few minutes to have Katie's portrait sketched. I love to mix things up and do something new for each person - and this certainly was a first!

We left Seattle Center for Carillon Point in Kirkland, to catch the sunset on the shore of Lake Washington. This is one of my favorite images from the day...

Katie, it was a delight to hang out with you for your senior session. May your life be blessed with all the good things God has in store for you!
