Daniel's Senior Session in Seattle

I'll never forget my first memory of meeting Daniel...he was about 11 years old, and hanging out of a tree. He introduced himself as George, and for a long time that name stuck with our family! Our family has watched Daniel grow up before our eyes, and it was a privilege to capture this time in his life through senior pictures. It's so interesting how we each interpret things differently. I saw this unique log formation and asked Daniel to go near it for a picture - this was his take on the scene. I actually like it!
Daniel was most relaxed during our session when he was able to forget all about me and focus on playing his drums...

Thanks for taking the time to hang out with us, Daniel - I know you weren't exactly looking forward to our session, but hopefully you made a good memory in spite of it not being your favorite thing to do...be blessed!

Nichole's session at Olympic Sculpture Park

Today Alyssa and I got to spend some time getting to know Nichole as we photographed her senior session in downtown Seattle. So Nichole told us that she is not fond of getting her picture taken, and hasn't been too happy in the recent past with pictures taken of her. Well, I don't know what went wrong before, but I am happy to say that Nichole is making my job pretty difficult now as I have so many pictures from our session that I love - it's going to be very hard to narrow it down to a manageable number! This was taken in Post Alley, where we started our day...
Nichole has the most striking blue eyes that are truly stunning...

Here is the last frame I shot for the day, just as it was starting to rain and I knew we needed to pack it in. In fact, you can actually see the raindrops in the large scale image...cool!
Thanks, Nichole, for giving me a chance to make you happy with your senior pictures. I hope that we were able to meet (and exceed) your expectations, and I look forward to sharing all the images with you. Be blessed!

Brandon at Golden Gardens

Monday we spent the afternoon hanging out with Brandon at Golden Gardens Park for his senior portrait session. Although he confessed that getting his picture taken was not high on his list of things he liked to do, he was a great sport with a fantastic attitude to comply with nearly all the requests made of him that day. As I reviewed his images, it was clear that he is a natural in front of the camera! Brandon has worked hard at learning TaeKwonDo, and although not dressed for the routine, he did as his mom asked by showing a few moves. This shot is the result of his mom's vision for Brandon in action - Brandon, I hope your family likes it!
Not only is Brandon an athlete, he also is an accomplished musician. Brandon brought his guitar to the beach and he played while I shot. I loved that we were able to capture so many different aspects of Brandon's life in his session.
Brandon, this really was just a sneak peek...be blessed!

Kaitlyn's Senior Session at Seattle Center

Yesterday I had the pleasure of hanging out with Kaitlyn and her mom as we toured Seattle for her senior pictures. Kaitlyn has such a beautiful smile and stunning eyes which photographed so well. One of my favorite images from the day took place at a parking garage off a busy street - a tip I learned on my recent trip to a photographer's convention in Las Vegas. Who knew that something so utilitarian could provide the backdrop for such a beautiful image?

Kaitlyn brought her car for some fun shots at the end of our day. I'm sure she turns many heads when she's behind the wheel! Kaitlyn, I hope you enjoyed this sneak peek at your pictures. I'm looking forward to reviewing them all with you!

Ashley as Fantine in "Les Mis"

I remember so well the first time I saw the stage presentation of "Les Miserables". I didn't get it. I didn't cry. I didn't even realize it was a musical in the truest sense of the word until 30 minutes of the show had passed. Fast forward 7 years, and my 16-year old daughter Ashley was cast in the role of Fantine for a student production of the musical. Let's just say my attitude toward the show changed completely once Ashley began rehearsals!

Last night was opening night - we couldn't have been more in awe of the transformation that we witnessed taking place in front of our eyes on stage. It was more than just playing a character - Gabriel and I saw a confidence, a beauty, and a passion emerge within Ashley that marked a passage into young adulthood.

Way to go, Ashley! We are so very proud of you and all the hard work and sacrifice it took to get to this place. We can't wait to see you perform again!
