Ashley as Fantine in "Les Mis"

I remember so well the first time I saw the stage presentation of "Les Miserables". I didn't get it. I didn't cry. I didn't even realize it was a musical in the truest sense of the word until 30 minutes of the show had passed. Fast forward 7 years, and my 16-year old daughter Ashley was cast in the role of Fantine for a student production of the musical. Let's just say my attitude toward the show changed completely once Ashley began rehearsals!

Last night was opening night - we couldn't have been more in awe of the transformation that we witnessed taking place in front of our eyes on stage. It was more than just playing a character - Gabriel and I saw a confidence, a beauty, and a passion emerge within Ashley that marked a passage into young adulthood.



Way to go, Ashley! We are so very proud of you and all the hard work and sacrifice it took to get to this place. We can't wait to see you perform again!
