Seattle Photographer's Challenge

Two weeks ago, Gabriel , Alyssa and I joined a group of photographers in downtown Seattle to participate in a challenge - within the span of one hour, using the same type of equipment we were to photograph anything of our choosing. We submitted our top five choices to be voted on anonymously by a group of professional photographers.

This was the first photo competition I've ever entered, and the entries were varied and intriguing. I was just so excited to participate, challenge myself artistically and have fun, but never dreamt I would have a chance to win. When the final votes were tallied, it seemed more like a 7 -way tie...but in the end, this image won by a single vote. Wow!
Here was my personal favorite, which reminds me of a Norman Rockwell painting in an era gone by...
My third submission...it was so hard to narrow down my choices to just 5 picks!

I saw this image unfold before me as I was waiting to meet up with Gabriel at the end of the competition...
This picture by Alyssa made it to the final round of voting, and she came close to pulling off a win herself!
Another of Alyssa's pictures, I loved how it turned out...
The third of Alyssa's images...this man's eyes were so expressive. We actually had a long conversation about photography and cameras while taking his picture.
This was my favorite of Gabriel's images...
...and one more of Gabriel's shots, taken of a band counting money at the end of their gig.

LM,
You should sell the flower purchase to Pike's Place Market. Who know? It might become their signature photo for the market.
